‘Jimmy James’, born Michael Francis James on 13th September 1940 in the parish of St Ann in Jamaica, began his astonishing long lasting singing career in Kingston at the age of eighteen continuing to entertain audiences into his eighties “with the energy and drive of a twenty year old”. For over forty years Jimmy James sang soulfully and, together with the varied, multi-talented line up of The Vagabonds never gave less than 100%. ‘Now Is The Time’ was recorded live on 16th October 2004 at Club Tropicana, Chapel St. Leonards, Lincolnshire where “you can be assured that all of our LIVE! Entertainment is always presented in an extremely professional manner”. Here Jimmy James And The Vagabonds sail through a repertoire of covers and Jimmy’s own hits, immediately recognisable to anyone who has ever ventured near a dance floor, which could serve as a showcase for the history of black music in the latter half of the twentieth century.
