Derrick Morgan
Derrick Morgan - Derrick Morgan In London - CD Album
Format: CD
From the late fifties, through the sixties and on into the early seventies, only a handful of Jamaican artists and record producers were able to match the level of sustained popularity of the star of this collection. The personification of musical and sartorial cool, Derrick Morgan is, beyond any doubt, one of the most influential and important people to the development of Jamaican music and his groundbreaking work built the foundation for reggae's eventual breakthrough in the mid seventies. But by this time a number of its pivotal pioneers had been condemned to what Leon Trotsky had termed "the dustbin of history" yet, at the height of his fame, the Jamaican government no less were obliged to intervene, not once but twice, in order to ensure Derrick Morgan continued to make music.
