Format: CD

Born Huford Brown in Kingston, Jamaica on 25th November 1956, the deejay known and loved as U Brown, and occasionally Hugh Brown, was exposed to music at an early age while growing up on Bond Street, Western Kingston "a few doors down from Treasure Isle studio". As a very young man he would visit bars with his father, "there's no bar without a juke box", and, while Mr Brown and his friends would talk and drink, young Huford would listen to the records playing on the juke box. The lure of music proved irresistible and "between the age of eleven and thirteen", instead of attending classes at Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive, he began going to local dances. "In those days the big deejays was like Lord Comic, King Stitt and U Roy" who proved to be a formative influence on U Brown's developing style.

"My right name is Huford Brown and because I get attracted to U Roy from U Roy deejay Tubby's (King Tubby's Home Town Hi-Fi) usually "I used to love go and listen him." U Brown
