Exploding from the developing 1976 punk scene, Sham 69 were the street kids who refused to let their working class upbringing hold them back from the spotlight and instead used their spirit to connect with an unenthused youth. Combining passionate yet destructive music with boisterous, chant vocals and lyricism made the band as catchy as they were furious and soon saw them being covered by nationwide press.

They became the darlings of the emerging OI! punk scene with songs such as 'Borstal Breakout', 'Tell Us The Truth' and 'If The Kids Are United' becoming anthems. After the success of their first three classic albums 'Tell Us the Truth', 'That's Life' and 'The Adventues Of The Hersham Boys', the Sham 69 fan-base burgeoned and a number of negative aspects emerged that plagued the band. Their concerts were frequently halted after becoming hostile and violent due to the large skin-head fan-base - forcing the band to cease their live shows in 1979 eventually calling it a day in 1980. Since reforming in 1986 and enduring various line-ups, albums and disputes, the classic 1970's line-up are now back together (except drummer Mark Cain) and with this comes 'Set List: The Anthology', featuring renovated and modernised versions of the band's classic songs. For newer listeners or older ears there is much to revel in here - the former can experience a definitive set of songs from one of the original 1970's punk bands whilst the latter can re-live their favourite songs with both enjoying in a modern high-quality production format.

With the classic line up of Jimmy Pursey on vocals, Dave Parsons on guitar, Dave Tregunna on bass and now featuring Danny Fury on drums Sham 69 hasn't been this focused on stage and in the studio since their hey-day. After years of drama this legendary band is now settled and fixated on producing a 'Best Of' album that is faithfully updated, urgent and energetic - precisely as it should be
